Ha Noi strives to achieve 5G coverage at all high-tech zones by end of 2026

The capital city has issued a Plan No. 310/KH-UBND on developing 5G and the Internet of Things (IoT) infrastructure in high-tech zones, industrial parks, and industrial clusters in the city through 2030.

Accordingly, by 2026, at least two pilot investment projects in 5G and IoT applications for smart factory management will be carried out in high-tech zones, industrial parks, and industrial clusters.

By 2030, the city will deploy and complete the new-generation XGS-PON fiber-optic Internet system and transmission infrastructure, allowing symmetrical data transmission speeds of 10 gigabits per second (10 Gbps) for both download and upload.

All of high-tech zones and industrial parks will apply smart urban infrastructure management software based on 5G or IoT platforms.

A complete industrial IoT ecosystem will be built to promote innovation and standardize solutions in high-tech zones and industrial parks.

Hi-tech parks lead Ha Noi's industrial rise

Statistical data from Ha Noi's Management Board of Hi-tech Parks and Industrial Parks showed that the city's hi-tech and industrial parks attracted US$125 million worth of investment in the first half of this year.

So far, the parks have secured 844 projects, including 110 in hi-tech parks, worth a total of US$13.75 billion. Of this figure, US$5 billion went to the Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park.

For the second half of the year, the management board expected to boost investment promotion to reach its target of attracting US$450 million in investments to industrial and hi-tech parks.

The cumulative figure for the 2021–2025 period will reach an estimated US$2.5 billion, up 40 percent from that in the 2016–2020 period.

Currently, the city has 10 operating technology and industrial parks covering around 1,348 hectares. Most zones have an occupancy rate of nearly 100 percent, leaving almost no empty land.

In 2024, total investment into industrial zones reached US$768 million, of which half came from foreign direct investment, marking a 28 percent year-on-year increase.

Apart from the Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park, the new Ha Noi Biotech High‑tech Park is under development. Covering approximately 199 ha and costing US$250 million, it aims to attract investors in biotech, automation, new materials, and IT. Land clearance is expected to be completed this year./.
