VGP - Authorities in Ha Noi are mulling over ban of gasoline-powered motorbikes in 11 streets Hoan Kiem Ward from 6 pm to midnight on Fridays and from 6 am to midnight on Saturdays and Sundays.

Eleven streets in Hoan Kiem Ward in Ha Noi are proposed for a pilot low-emission zone

These streets are: Trang Tien, Hang Khay, Le Thai To, Hang Dao, Hang Ngang, Hang Buom, Ma May, Hang Bac, Hang Mam, Nguyen Huu Huan, and Ly Thai To.

These streets cover an area of 0.5 kilometers square, with a population of about 20,000, according to the Municipal People's Committee.

The proposed policy is part of the capital city's plan to create low-emission zone in certain areas within Ring Road 1 from July 1, 2026 in order to reduce air pollution.

The aforesaid areas cover nine wards namely Hai Ba Trung, Cua Nam, Hoan Kiem, O Cho Dua, Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam, Ba Dinh, Giang Vo, Ngoc Ha and Tay Ho. 

Currently, Ha Noi has 6.9 million motorbikes./.
