Ha Noi ceremony marks 50 years of Viet Nam - Singapore diplomatic ties

The event, jointly organized by Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO), the Viet Nam - Singapore Friendship Association, and the Singaporean Embassy in Viet Nam, was attended by Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan, leaders of agencies, branches, localities, the Diplomatic Corps, people of Viet Nam and Singapore.

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan congratulated the Singaporean Government and people on the anniversaries on behalf of the Vietnamese Party, State, and people.

She noted that over the last 50 years, the relationship between the two countries has developed enormously, dynamically, and substantively as seen in all-level mutual visits and meetings, economy, trade, and investment; education; and people-to-people exchanges.

Cooperation in economy, trade, and investment is a model of bilateral economic cooperation in Southeast Asia. Singapore is leading in ASEAN and second in the world in terms of investment in Viet Nam.

The Viet Nam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP), stretching from North to South, has symbolized the success of economic cooperation between the two countries.

Besides, educational cooperation and people-to-people exchanges are constantly developing, which is a solid bridge for strategic partnership.

She said that Viet Nam always kept in mind and appreciates the practical assistance of international friends during trying times, adding that Singapore was one of the first ASEAN countries to donate medical supplies to Viet Nam amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

In his remarks, Singaporean Ambassador to Viet Nam Jaya Ratnam said a highlight of bilateral relations is the mutual trust and respect nurtured through frequent meetings at all levels.

The diplomat said that with the solid foundation created by the two countries' leaders and people, their relations would grow even more.

For her part, VUFO President Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga underlined the importance of people-to-people exchanges to the Viet Nam - Singapore connections.

Participants enjoyed cultural performances at the event and visited an image exhibition of the cooperation relationship between Viet Nam and Singapore over the past 50 years./.
