Gov't to provide 400,000 smart phones to poor households in five years

The policy shall be implemented from April 30, 2026 to December 31, 2030, according to a program approved on May 1, 2026 by the Government.

The move aims to ensure residents in the most disadvantaged communes can access to telecommunication services nationwide.

As of early 2026, Viet Nam had an estimated 69.2 million to over 79 million smart phone users. The market is rapidly expanding, with smartphones being the primary device for internet access, placing Viet Nam among the top 10 countries globally for total smartphone users./.
