Gov't resumes pre-pandemic visa issuance as Viet Nam seeks to reopen inbound tourism

The Government tasked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to continue negotiations with other countries on mutual recognition of vaccine passports.

To date, Viet Nam's vaccine passports have been recognized by 14 countries: Australia, Belarus, Cambodia, India, Japan, Maldives, Palestine, the Philippines, the U.K. the U.S, Egypt, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and Turkey, and Singapore.

The Government also urged the Ministry of Health to promptly renew health surveillance protocol applicable to foreign arrivals to Viet Nam.

Earlier the same day, the Government also decided to resume visa exemption for citizens from 13 countries namely German, France, Italy, Spain, the UK, Russia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Belarus.

Also on Tuesday, Viet Nam welcomed the first international commercial flight after two years of border closure due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The flight SQ192 departed from Singapore and landed at Ha Noi-based Noi Bai international airport, marking the start of full resumption of inbound tourism./.
