Gov't presents cash gift to Vietnamese people on National Day
VGP - Each Vietnamese citizen will receive VND100,000 (US$3.79) as gift on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day – September 2.
This policy is part of the country's effort to celebrate 80th anniversary of the 1945 August Revolution, which brought independence after nearly a century of colonial and imperial rule. On September 2, 1945, President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence at Ba Dinh Square in Ha Noi, proclaiming the birth of the Democratic Republic of Viet Nam, now the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.
The Government tasked the Ministry of Finance, the State Bank of Viet Nam, the Ministry of Public Security and People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities shall coordinate closely to immediately review eligible recipients, and deliver gift either via bank transfer or direct distribution, ensuring completion before September 2.
As of April 1, 2024, Viet Nam's population reached 101,112,656 people, ranking third in the Southeast Asia and 16th in the world, the General Statistics Office reported on January 6./.
