Gov't evaluates impacts of recent global developments, including Middle East conflict

The meeting drew the participation of Deputy Prime Ministers, several Cabinet ministers and leaders of some economic groups.

The move aims to gain input for designing response scenarios and solutions to minimize negative impacts on Viet Nam.

Addressing the meeting, Prime Minister Pham tasked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to develop and submit a report to the Politburo and the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV) Central Committee in accordance with the instructions of General Secretary To Lam and the Office of the CPV Central Committee. He requested relevant ministries and agencies to send daily reports to the Government Office.

Pham said the recent global developments may affect Viet Nam in terms of macro-economic stability, especially inflation and growth; enegy security, logistics (due to rising prices); disruptions to supply chain; Vietnamese nationals abroad; national defense-security; and diplomacy.

Against that backdrop, the Prime Minister stressed the need to stay calm, maintain vigilance, and closely monitor the situation in order to design flexible, timely, effective and proactive response measures.

The Prime Minister called for adopting measures to ensure energy security and control prices, and drawing plans to evacuate Vietnamese nationals from risky areas.

The Ministry of Finance was assigned to develop scenarios for socio-economic management for both short and long terms; submit a draft Resolution amending preferential import tariffs in a bid to ensure good supply and diversify supply chains.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade was tasked to work out plans to ensure energy security, deploy measures to stabilize oil and petrol market./.
