The Governor-General made the above statement while visiting the Lunar New Year Tet Festival at Fairfield Showground in Sydney, on February 25.

According to her, festivals such as Tet not only preserve cultural traditions but also foster solidarity, mutual understanding, and the strength of Australia's multicultural society.

Recalling her visit to Viet Nam in 2025, Mostyn highlighted the increasingly deep relationship between the two countries, spanning education to economic cooperation.

Earlier from September 9-12 last year, Australia's Governor-General and her spouse Simeon Beckett paid a State visit to Viet Nam at the invitation of President Luong Cuong and his spouse.

During her visit, Governor-General Mostyn met with General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man.

Vietnamese leaders praised the first-ever State visit by Governor-General Mostyn and expressed confidence in Australia's growing role in promoting regional and global peace, stability, and cooperation.

Governor-General Mostyn reaffirmed Viet Nam as one of Australia's most trusted partners and called for closer coordination across all areas toward a peaceful, stable, and prosperous region.

During the visit, she attended the inauguration of the Australia–Viet Nam Policy Institute's Ha Noi office, paid respects at President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and the Martyrs' Monument, and met with Viet Nam's UN peacekeeping forces in Ho Chi Minh City./.
