The top Party leader reiterated the point during a working session with Vietnamese Ambassadors in Ha Noi on Sunday morning.

The working session was also attended by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung.

General Secretary To Lam highlighted the new developments and major orientations in the Resolution adopted by the 14th National Party Congress.

In diplomacy domain, the National Party Congress adopted the major viewpoint: defense, security and diplomacy now form the 'vital and regular task', he said.

The Resolution stresses the need for maintaining strategic autonomy and self-reliance, considering it as the foundation for extensive international integration without dependence.

The Resolution also affirms the goal to further advance the development of diplomacy in the new era in commensurate with the country's historical stature, cultural identity and international standing, vividly reflecting the renewed mindset, strong will and fresh aspirations of the Vietnamese nation after 40 years of Doi moi (renewal).

The Party leader urged Ambassadors and heads of overseas diplomatic missions to promote national interests, fully embrace the spirit of dedication, integrity, creativity, daring to think, daring to do, daring to make breakthroughs while upholding discipline and setting examples and ensuring words match with actions and making tangible results.

The diplomats were requested to strictly adhere to the foreign policy orientations of the 14th National Party Congress and instructions of the Politburo and the Secretariat, said General Secretary To Lam, adding that the Politburo is set to soon issue a Resolution guiding the implementation of the foreign policy adopted at the 14th National Party Congress.

He urged the diplomats to give high priority to effectively implementing the economic diplomacy and science-technology diplomacy work. Diplomatic missions must be more active and proactive in promoting their role of connectivity, market expansion, acceleration of technology transfer and cooperation in innovation and digital transformation, and make direct contribution to the development of 11 strategic technologies and implementation of transformative projects on socio-economic development.

Diplomatic missions also need to show Viet Nam's readiness to make positive and responsible contributions to the common efforts of the international community; to take the pioneering role in addressing global issues such as sustainable development, non-traditional security challenges, peacekeeping, search and rescue, humanitarian assistance; and to uphold multilateralism, international law, emphasized the General Secretary.

He also urged diplomatic missions to strengthen outreach to overseas Vietnamese communities, safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Vietnamese citizens and enterprises abroad, and mobilize the valuable resources of overseas intellectuals, experts, and scientists for national development./.
