General Secretary, President To Lam begins State visit to Philippines

The Philippines is the third leg of his ongoing tour to ASEAN ccountries, who took him to Thailand and Singapore.
Speaking to Vietnamese reporters ahead of the visit, Philippine Ambassador Francisco Noel R. Fernandez III described visit as a historic event that marks a new chapter in the relationship between Viet Nam and the Philippines.
The visit also coincides with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations, providing an opportunity to review achievements over the past five decades and define priorities for future cooperation.
According to the Ambassador, discussions during the visit will cover all major areas of bilateral relations, including trade, culture, security, ASEAN cooperation, and coordination in multilateral forums such as the United Nations.
Viet Nam and the Philippines set up diplomatic relations on July 12, 1976, and officially signed an agreement to upgrade their relationship to a strategic partnership on November 17, 2015./.
