Four-month exports of agro-forestry-aquatic products hit over US$15.6 bln

VGP - The export value of agro-forestry-aquatic products in the first four months of 2023 was estimated at US$15.66 billion, down 13.3 percent year-on-year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).

During January-April, the sector enjoyed a trade surplus of US$2.51 billion, down 37.7 percent.

Products with high export value included coffee (US$1.7 billion, up 2.5 percent); fruits and vegetables (US$1.39 billion, up 19.4 percent); and cashew (US$942 million, up 3.4 percent).  

China, the U.S. and Japan remained the largest importers of Viet Nam's farm produce in four months, accounting for 20.9 percent, 18.9 percent and 8.1 percent, respectively.

In April alone, the country earned US$4.54 billion from exporting farm produce, down 8.3 percent against the same period last year. 

Of the figure, the exports of agricultural and livestock products reached US$2.33 billion and US$41 million, up 24 percent and 46.7 percent, respectively. 

Meanwhile, the export value of aquatic and forestry products saw respective decreases of 28.6 percent and 29.8 percent, achieving US$800 million and US$1.2 billion.
