The four community infection cases are natives of Ha Nam (two) and Ha Noi (two), all linked to patient 2899. These new cases take the total number of community transmissions to 12.

The other patients include nine Vietnamese returning from abroad and one Indian national, said the ministry.

The Vietnamese returnees were brought home from Germany (one), the Philippines (two), Indonesia (five) and arrived in Viet Nam via Moc Bai border gate in the southern province of Tay Ninh.

The resurgence of local infections prompted the Government to convene an urgent meeting this morning, during which Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh called all citizens to shelve unnecessary activities and immediately implement the available precautious measures to protect safety and health of each individual and the whole society.

Pham reiterated that protecting public health is the Government’s top priority now, thus he ordered engagement of the whole political system in containing COVID-19 under the motto fighting the pandemic like fighting enemy./.
