Finswimmers win in Asian championship in Thailand
VGP — Vietnamese athletes won 19 golds at the Asian Finswimming Championship and Asian Juniors Finswimming Competition which closed on November 29 in Phuket, Thailand.

In the last day of competitions, Vu Dang Nhat Nam won in the men' 400m bifins event in a time of 3min 32.49sec, setting a new personal record which beat his former Asian record of 3:24.49 that he made up previously.
He was followed by Tien Lei of Chinese Taipei and Tang Kaiyue of China.
Earlier, quartet Do Dinh Toan, Pham Le Minh Phuc, Luu Nguyen Duc Tam and Nguyen Trong Dung triumphed in the men's 4x200m surface in a time of 5:46.43.
On the women's side, Nguyen Nhat Le Nguyen, Pham Thi Thu, Nguyen Thi Hang and Dang Thi Vuong claimed gold, clocking 6:23.75.
In the junior tournament, Nguyen Khang Dung, Pham Thanh Dai, Le Khuong Duy and Dang Phu Quoc met no difficulty to win in the boys' 4x200m surface (5:53.74).
Nguyen Tu Anh, Nguyen Tran San San, Pham Thi Thuy Suong and Dang Thi Vuong topped the podium of the girls' 4x200m surface (6:31.79).
Dang Thi Vuong and Nguyen Le Truyen Dat won in the girls' 50m surface and boys' 400m bifins.
Other golds were in the girls' 4x100m surface, boys' and girls' 800m surface events.
In Phuket, Vietnamese athletes also pocketed 19 silvers and 14 bronzes.
The Asian championship featured 370 athletes from 15 countries and territories. This was the 18th edition as it has been organised since 1976.
Viet Nam sent 41 strongest finswimmers including SEA Games champions and junior stars to the event.
During the championship, officials took part in a meeting on the establishment of the Southeast Asian Finswimming Federation.
Representatives of the countries contributed their opinions on the development of finswimming in the region, thereby reaching an agreement to establish the federation.
"If the Southeast Asian Finswimming Federation is established, we believe that the sport will receive more investment sources and athletes will have more tournaments to compete for higher success," Nguyen Ngoc Anh, head of Viet Nam team said./.
