As of January 20, 2020, total amount of FDI attraction valued US$ 5.3 billion, representing a year-on-year surge of 179.5%.
In the reviewed period, 258 newly-registered projects had US$ 4.5 billion, up 14.2% in number and 454.1% in capital. Meanwhile, 77 projects were added a total value of US$ 334 million, down 1.9% against the same period last year. In addition, foreign investors spent US$ 534.8 million purchasing shares, down 29.8%.
In January, total amount of FDI disbursement was estimated at US$ 1.6 billion, representing a year-on-year growth of 3.2%.
Over 8,300 enterprises were founded with a total registered capital of VND 267,200 trillion and 84,500 laborers.
The number of international guests visiting the country was estimated at nearly 2 million.
However, total trade turnover was estimated at US$ 38.1 billion, representing a year-on-year decline of 12.9% of which export turnover hit US$ 19 billion. Viet Nam suffered a trade deficit of US$ 100 million in the first month of 2020./.
