EU pledges to aid Viet Nam with 10 million vaccine doses

VGP – Viet Nam expresses sincere thanks to the European Union (EU) and its member countries for their commitment to aid Viet Nam with 10 million vaccine doses and medical equipment.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh made the above statement on Thursday during his working session with Head of the EU delegation, Ambassadors and business representatives of the EU countries in Viet Nam.

The PM affirmed that the Government is pursuing free vaccination campaign for all, with industrial workers among the first priority groups, and has directed local authorities to have specific plans to vaccinate foreigners living and working in Viet Nam.

Pham appreciated effective and practical contributions of the EU delegation to Viet Nam, Embassies of the EU countries, European business associations and enterprises to the advancement of the Viet nam-EU relations.

He emphathizes with the harships of the EU investors due to the complicated evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic in Viet Nam, underlining that the Vietnamese Government is making every effort to contain and repel the pandemic.

The Government set up a special working group to help businesses overcome difficulties posed by the pandemic, and most recently issued Resolution No. 105 to support enterprises, co-operatives and houseold businesses in the COVID-19 time, Pham said.

The Government also requested ministers and chairpersons of provincial-level People’s Committees to promptly provide specific instructions for businesses to implement safe production plans and settle obstalces arising in the application of social distancing rules.

The Government also tasked subordinate levels to envisage a COVID-19 adaptative recovery plan, he added.

At the meeting, the EuroCham handed over medical equipment worth VND40 billion donated by the EU firms to the Ministry of Health./.
