During January-September period, Viet Nam attracted US$50.36 billion in foreign direct investment, a year-on-year increase of 76.4 percent.
Of the above figure, the Southeast Asian nation licensed 3,108 projects with total registered capital of US$29.24 billion, up 6.2 percent in the number of projects and 2.4 times in terms of capital value.
Processing and manufacturing remains the top recipient sector with US$13.38 billion, accounting for 45.8 percent of the total foreign direct investment inflows, said the National Statistics Office.
Singapore was the top foreign investor in the reviewed period, with US$9.26 billion, followed by South Korea with US$5.7 billion, Luxembourg with US$4.99 billion, Hong Kong with US$3.01 billion, China with US$2.27 billion, Japan with US$1.56 billion, and the Netherlands with US$438.5 million.
Meanwhile, Viet Nam's outbound investment was estimated at US$1.28 billion, raising the country's total outward investment value to US$2.77 billion so far, focusing on such areas like warehouses and logistics (US$602.4 million); production and distribution of electricity, gas and air conditioners (US$585.8 million); agriculture, forestry and aquaculture (US$516.6 million); and processing and manufacturing (US$320.1 million)./.
