Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai made that above statement at his working session with WTO Deputy Director-General Zhang Xiangchen at the WTO headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, on May 25 (local time).

According to Le, after 15 years of joining the WTO, Viet Nam has gained various socio-economic achievements, successfully realized sustainable development goals and has been in top 20 international traders in 2021.

Le expects the WTO to continue upholding its role in fostering global trade in a more inclusive and balanced manner, contributing to economic recovery and development.

The reform process of the WTO needs to ensure rights and obligations in line with the development and implementation capacity of its members, especially developing nations, he suggested.

For his side, the WTO Deputy Director-General spoke highly of the active participation and contribution of Viet Nam to the global economic growth.

He expressed his hope that the Southeast Asian nation will continue active participation in the WTO's 12th Ministerial Conference (MC12) scheduled to take place next June, to reach specific outcomes, particularly in fisheries and agricultural subsidies, thus promoting global trade.
