Deputy PM Dam directs facilitation of air cargo transportation

Accordingly, on February 12, 2020, FedEx Express, a U.S.-based cargo airline, sent a letter to the Government Office asking for permission to let its flight crew (U.S. citizens, not staying overnight in China) access the rest area inside or outside the airport when its aircraft land at Vietnamese airports.

In the letter, the U.S. company proposes three solutions to resume its cargo flights, including (i) excluding the flight crew (2-3 people) from the current limitations, (ii) allowing the crew through the immigration area to rest in a designated hotel, and (iii) allowing the crew to leave the aircraft and take a rest at a FedEx facility in a designated area of the airport apron (on buses or other vehicles).

Concerning the case, Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam assigned the Ministries of Transport and Health, in coordination with relevant agencies, to promptly take measures to immediately resolve the proposals of FedEx Express mentioned in the aforementioned letter, aiming to ensure  that the epidemic prevention and control work does not interrupt and affect the air cargo transportation activities in the spirit of the Prime Minister’s directions in the Dispatch No. 808/VPCP-KTTH dated January 5, 2020 on cross-border imports, exports and transportation of goods../.
