The Deputy Prime Minister suggested the two sides materialize the Plan of Action for the implementation of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in the 2024–2028 period, prepare for high-ranking visits as well as cooperative mechanisms including the Joint Committee for Economic, Trade, Science and Technology Cooperation in 2025.

Bui stressed that India remains one of important and effective partners of Viet Nam especially in national defense and security.

He proposed the two sides work closely to share information and take joint actions on regional strategic security issues.

The Deputy Prime Minister also suggested the two sides effectively implement the US$500 million credit package which the Indian Government granted Viet Nam for defense industry development.

In reply, Pavan Kapoor proposed the two countries early negotiate a free trade deal to double the two-way trade turnover and expand cooperation in strategic sectors like petroleum, energy infrastructure, seaport, digital transformation, AI, semiconductor and mining.

Deputy National Security Advisor Pavan Kapoor emphasized that India commits to closely work with ASEAN and Viet Nam, supporting ASEAN's central role in the region and back peaceful solutions to disputes in the East Sea on the basis of the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

The same day, Politburo member and Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang met with visiting Indian Deputy National Security Advisor Pavan Kapoor.

Luong expressed his hope that India will play a more proactive role in the Indo-Pacific region through multilateral mechanisms and policies like the "Act East" policy and the "Indo-Pacific Initiative." He also called on the India's National Security Council to continue supporting the MPS in capacity-building efforts through scholarships, training programs, and technological upgrades.

Earlier, the third Viet Nam-India security dialogue at deputy ministerial level took place in Ha Noi on December 5, co-chaired by Deputy Minister of Public Security Pham The Tung and Indian Deputy National Security Advisor Pavan Kapoor.

During the dialogue, the two sides discussed 10 carefully selected topics, focusing on the application of science and technology in ensuring national security and anti-transnational crime efforts.

Both sides committed to teaming up to effectively translate their cooperation orientations into practical actions, aiming to safeguard national security and maintain order in each country, thereby strengthening the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership in the new period./.
