Daily COVID-19 count drops to under 50,000 cases

The ministry also reported additional 55,800 recoveries, taking the total number of recovered cases to 7,841,018.  

It also announced further 42 fatalities, brining the nation's death toll to 42,642, or 0.4 percent of the national caseload. 

Among the current active cases, 1,942 patients are being warded at hospitals, including 1,336 requiring medical oxygen, 262 relying on high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) oxygen theraphy, 259 needing non-invasive ventilators, and 15 requring extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) intervention./.
