Da Nang welcomes record 2.72 million visitors during DIFF 2026

VGP - The central city of Da Nang welcomed a record number of 2.72 million visitors during the 2026 Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF), up nearly 45 percent compared to the previous edition.

Portugal wins the championship at the festival's grand finale, July 11, 2026

Held from May 30 to July 11 under the theme "Da Nang – United Horizons," DIFF 2026 drew the participation of 10 fireworks teams from Australia, China, China's Macao, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Portugal, and two teams representing Viet Nam.

Portugal won the championship at the festival's grand finale on July 11, receiving the the top prize of US$20,000 while China finished as runner-up.

The 2026 edition was regarded as one of the most successful in the festival's history, attracting hundreds of thousands of domestic and international visitors throughout its six-week run.

Ahead of the final night, Da Nang recorded more than 557,000 tourists during the five qualifying competition nights, marking a 34 percent increase year-on-year.

Each fireworks night drew more than 100,000 visitors to the city. The fifth qualifying night on June 27 recorded the highest attendance of the season, with around 117,400 visitors.

The strong tourism performance during DIFF 2026 further reinforces Da Nang's position as one of Viet Nam's leading festival and event destinations, contributing to local tourism growth and the city's economic development.

The annual Da Nang International Fireworks Festival was officially selected as one of nine must-experience summer festivals in the world by Travel + Leisure Asia, a top travel media brand in the world, joining in the list alongside iconic events such as Glastonbury Festival (UK), Primavera Sound (Spain), and Gion Matsuri (Japan)./.
