The patient, residing in Hoa Khanh Bac Ward, Lieu Chieu District, cenrtal city of Da Nang, was confirmed contracting the virus this morning after several tests.

He is being quarantined at the Da Nang Hospital where doctors have to treat him with tranquilizer, anti-biotics, antiviral drugs, according to the Treatment Sub-committee under the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control.

The case ended more than three-month streak of no community transmission in the Southeast Asian nation.

Shortly after being informed of this case, the Ministry of Health asked the Da Nang Department of Health to direct the city’s center for disease control (CDC) and Hospital C to take his sample for testing.

Right on Thursday night, the Da Nang Department of Health took samples for testing from people having close contact with the suspect case at Hospital C and Da Nang Hospital, along with his family members. All 105 samples of those people tested negative for SARS-CoV-2.

The department also requested relevant units to conduct epidemiological investigations to identify others with close contact with the suspect patient, quarantine them, and localize the related areas.

The Ministry also sent experts and equipment to the central city to contain the outbreak./.
