Da Lat aims for Southeast Asia's top vegetable production hub

VGP -- The People's Committee of Da Lat City, in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong, has approved a plan to turn the city into the top producer of vegetables in Southeast Asia in 2016-2020.

Accordingly, the city will develop its comprehensive and sustainable hi-tech agriculture with multi-sectoral approach to become the top vegetable production hub of Southeast Asia and Viet Nam's top agricultural tourist destination.

Da Lat hopes that high technology will be applied on  65-70% of its farming land areas, equivalent to 7,000 hectares.

The agricultural sector’s production value is expected to hit VND4,346 billion (US$193 million), of which vegetable and flower exports account for 20%.

In addition, Da Lat will build sustainable agricultural production models together with the development of tourism and agricultural services.
