CPV convenes summing-up on anti-corruption

VGP – A nationwide conference was opened this morning in Hà Nội by the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Việt Nam (CPV) in order to review anti-corruption work in 2009 and kick-start new missions in 2010.

In his opening speech, Mr. Trương Tấn Sang, permanent member of the CPV Secretariat, re-emphasized that the CPV describes corruption as one of major dangers threatening the existence of the Party and the regime because it causes negative consequences in various fields of social life and wears people’s trust.

The Party and State have always placed special importance on anti-corruption work, with a view to “preventing and completely eradicating corruption and prodigality,” added Mr. Sang.

Representatives of ministries, sectors and localities all showed their determination to join efforts in fulfilling that overall goal.

They were unanimous that combating corruption is a practical measure to consolidate and people’s confidence in the government and the regime.

Many local leaders shared their anti-corruption experience, such as increasing transparency and openness; speeding up administrative reforms in order to fill “loopholes” of administrative procedures; and strictly punishing corruption cases.

Participants spent much of time on discussing the Central Steering Committee for Anti-corruption’s report on the work in 2009 and new eights tasks in 2010.

1. To continue propagation and education in anti-corruption;

2. To finalize plans and documents on anti-corruption; to revise, supplement and concretize the promulgated regulations in order to perfect anti-corruption regime, focusing on such fields as land, tax, customs, capital construction, resources and mineral management;

3. To enforce regulations on anti-corruption and the National Strategy on Anti-corruption to 2020;

4. To enhance examination, audit, inspection, investigation, prosecution and trial corruption cases; to boost up cooperation among competent agencies in unveiling and dealing with these cases;

5. To perfect the organization and increase capability, quality and efficiency of steering committees and bodies in charge of anti-corruption at all levels;

6. To highlight responsibility of leaders for anti-corruption;

7. To intensify supervision of the National Assembly, People’s Councils at all echelons, the Fatherland Front and its members over anti-corruption;

8. To promptly settle corruption cases and denunciation of corrupted acts.
