The CPI in 2013 increased 6.6% compared to 2012, the lowest in the recent 10 years, said Price Statistics Department Nguyen Duc Thang.
Among products and services, housing and building materials saw the highest increase of 2.31% in December this year, followed by garment, headwear and footwear up 0.57%, food and restaurant services up 0.49%, beverages and tobacco up 0.27% and household commodities up 0.25%.
Meanwhile, transportation was down 0.23% and post and telecommunication services, down 0.01%.
The increase in electricity price (up 10%) contributed 0.25% to the CPI rise this year.
Mr. Thang forecasted that the supplementary issuance of Government bonds and the increasing prices in health care, electricity and water services will make the CPI rise, but not at a high rate.
