Coronavirus infection cases increase to 47

VGP – The Ministry of Health just reported two more COVID-19 infection cases in Ha Noi, bringing the total patients in Viet Nam to 47.

The latest patients include a 30-year old stewardess who served on flight VN0054 from the UK to Viet Nam. The flight carrying more than 200 passengers and crew members landed at Noi Bai International Airport on March 9.

On March 10, she showed symptoms of fever and coughing. One day later, she went for medical checks at the Aviation Medical Center.

She was then taken to the Campus No. 2 of the Central Hospital for Tropical Disease in Dong Anh district, Ha Noi, where she tested positive for the virus.

The other patient is a 43-year old woman who is house-helper of Ha Noi’s previously announced COVID-19 patient, named Nguyen Hong Nhung.

After learning that Nhung contracted the virus, on March 5, the Ha Noi Center for Disease Control made a list of people who had been in close contact with Nhung for epidemiological investigation and application of quarantine regulations.

As of Friday evening, 16 out of the total 47 COVID-19 patients reported so far in Viet Nam had been cleared of the virus and discharged from hospitals. All the current 31 patients have been confirmed since March 6.

Stricken localities are Vinh Phuc (11 patients), Ho Chi Minh City (5 patients), Khanh Hoa (1 patient), Thanh Hoa (1 patient), Ninh Binh (1 patient), Quang Ninh (4 patients), Lao Cai (2 patients); Da Nang (3 patients); Thua Thien-Hue (1 patient); Quang Nam (2 patients), and Binh Thuan (9 patients)./.
