Construction of President Ho Chi Minh statute in Sri Lanka

VGP - The ground-breaking ceremony to begin the construction the President Ho Chi Minh Statute was held on 15 July the capital Colombo of Sri Lanka.

The Mayor of Colombo A.J.M. Muzammil, Minister of Human Resources, General Secretary of Communist Party Sri Lanka Dew Gunasekara, Vietnamese Ambassador Ton Sinh Thanh to Sri Lanka were present at the ceremony.

Addressing the event, Vietnamese Ambassador Ton Sinh Thanh summarized the lofty life and career of President Ho Chi Minh, who is not only the great leader of Vietnamese people, Vietnamese hero of the national liberation, world great civilizer recognized by UNESCO, but also very close to the people of Sri Lanka, with his three visits to the beautiful island in 1911, 1928 and 1946.

The Mayor of Colombo A.J.M. Muzammil emphasized that the construction of President Ho Chi Minh statute in Sri Lanka also honors the great pride of the people of Sri Lanka in general and people of Colombo city in particular.

Describing President Ho Chi Minh as an endless source of inspiration to depressed countries worldwide, the Mayor said people all over the world, including from Sri Lanka, admire President Ho Chi Minh.

The Ho Chi Minh Monument in Colombo will become an everlasting symbol of the traditional friendship between the two countries and their peoples.
