The event marked a significant milestone in implementing the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime and reaffirmed Viet Nam's commitment to strengthening international cooperation in building a safe, secure, trustworthy and sustainable cyberspace.

Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Public Security Pham The Tung said the hub is expected to serve as a bridge for cooperation among countries in the region and around the world in combating cybercrime.

Accordingly, it will serve as a focal point for promoting the effective implementation of the UN Convention against Cybercrime by assisting countries in strengthening enforcement capacity, and enhancing international cooperation in combating cybercrime, thereby facilitating the Convention's swift implementation.

The regional hub will be targeted for information sharing, research, analysis and early warning on emerging cybercrime trends, tactics and methods, while fostering collaboration in investigations and supporting the handling of transnational cybercrime cases to improve law enforcement across the region.

It will become a leading institution for training, research and the development of high-quality human resources in cybersecurity, digital forensics, data science and the application of artificial intelligence to cybercrime prevention and investigation, he noted.

The hub will serve as a multilateral cooperation platform bringing together law enforcement agencies, international organizations, technology companies, research institutions and educational establishments to promote experience sharing, technology transfer, and the development of innovation initiatives and solutions for enhancing cybersecurity and building digital trust, reiterated the Deputy Minister.

Regional Representative of the UNODC for Southeast Asia and the Pacific, Delphine Schantz described the groundbreaking as an important milestone not only for Viet Nam but for the entire region.

She affirmed that the UNODC stands ready to continue supporting and working closely with the Government of Viet Nam throughout the establishment and development of the hub to ensure the initiative reaches its full potential and delivers lasting positive impacts across the Asia-Pacific region./.
