Chinese war ships point weapons at Vietnamese

VGP – Chinese war ships pointed weapons at Vietnamese vessels in the area where China illegally placed the drilling rig Haiyang Shiyou 981 since early May, Mr. Ha Le, Deputy chief of the Viet Nam Fisheries Surveillance Forces told AFP on May 29.

China has moved its oil rig to another location in Viet Nam’s exclusive economic zone. “When we approached they uncovered their guns, turned them and pointed them at the Vietnamese vessels,” Mr. Le said.

China’s intimidation is not new over the past days as it has repeatedly controlled, threatened, rammed and fired water cannons at Vietnamese vessels. China even sunk a fishing boat of Viet Nam with ten persons on board on 26 May 2014.

Although China is a member of the United Nations Security Council, a big country in the region, China’s acts in right in Viet Nam’s waters are very provocative, perverse and unacceptable.

At the Government’s regular meeting on May 29, PM Dung said that a lawsuit against China regarding the illegal oil rig placement will be considered in line with international law./.
