Central Highlands sustainable forest project approved

The project targets to prevent and put an end to forest loss; restore and develop forest. 

By 2030, forest coverage will reach 49.2%. Forest area will cover about 2.72 million hectares. The project aims to protect and develop sustainable forest; protect ecological environment; preserve biodiversity; provide environmental services; contribute to socio-economic development; safeguard security, national defense, and social order.

The project gets a total investment of VND 28 trillion to protect 2,246,068 hectares of existing forest area; prevent deforestation and illegal forest exploitation, illegal transportation and trading of wild animals. 

In the 2021-2030 period, the project will build specific mechanisms and policies for the Central Highlands Region./.
