Under the plan, another terminal will be built at the Hai Phong-based airport to increase its annual capacity to 13 million passengers by the end of this decade.
By 2050, the airport will be upgraded to reach level 4E and to handle 18 million passengers and 500,000 tons of cargo per year.
Cat Bi is an international air gateway that plays a key role in the socio-economic development strategy of Hai Phong and the country’s northern coastal region. The airport’s current terminal was inaugurated in May 2016.
Over the past years, the number of passengers in Cat Bi international Airport has increased significantly. In the period from 2013 to 2017, the average number of passengers rose by 26.8 percent and the cargo output increased by 20 percent.
Cat Bi airport has been one of the five busiest airports in Viet Nam to apply non-stop toll collection since May 5./.
