Cashew export to China strongly rises

China remained the largest importer of agricultural products from Viet Nam, accounting for 26.9% of the total exports.

It was followed by the United States, the European Union, ASEAN, and Japan.

Cashew nut exports saw an increase of 58% in volume and 36.3% in value with 58,100 tons worth US$447.2 million in the first ten months of this year.

By November this year, enterprises exported more than 418,000 tons of cashew nuts worth nearly US$3 billion, higher than the plan of 450,000 tons and US$ 3.5 billion. The United States remained the largest import market, followed by China and the Netherlands

Data of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development show that the agriculture sector enjoyed a trade surplus of US$ 8.8 billion in the first 11 months this year. 

According to Pham Van Cong, Chairman of the Viet Nam Cashew Association, the Chinese Government is tightening regulations on export-import via borders between the two countries.

Vietnamese cashew is popular in choosy markets such as the United States. and the European Union, and this is paving the way for domestic exporters to expand markets.

Along with seeking new markets, the country aims to maintain major ones such as China, the Netherlands, and especially the United States which consumes up to 40% of the country’s cashew nuts.
