Can Tho exports first batch of green skinned mangoes to Australia, U.S.

The shipments were executed under a contract signed between Loc Hung Cooperatives of Co Do district and Vina T&T Import-Export Company.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), Viet Nam's fruit and vegetable export revenue reached US$2.59 billion in the first five months of 2024, up 28.1 percent over the same period last year.

Viet Nam's total fruit farming area in 2024 is estimated at 1.29 million hectares, up about 20,000 hectares from the previous year, said Nguyen Nhu Cuong, Director of the Department of Crop Production under the MARD. The total fruit output in 2024 is projected to reach 13.5 million tons, up 3.4 percent from last year.

Viet Nam currently has 8 types of fresh fruits allowed to be imported into the U.S., including dragon fruit, mango, longan, lychee, rambutan, star apple, grapefruit, and coconut.

In the first 4 months of the year, fruit and vegetable exports to the U.S. reached US$93 million, an increase of 33 percent over the same period in 2023.

Four types of fresh Vietnamese fruits, namely mango, longan, lychee, and dragon fruit, have been exported to the Australian market./.
