Addressing the event, Nguyen, who is also Head of the National Steering Committee on the Prevention and Control of Smuggling, Trade Fraud and Counterfeit Goods (National Steering Committee 389), underlined the importance of setting up interdisciplinary working groups to prevent smuggling and trade frauds.
He calls for more efforts to disseminate regulations on anti- smuggling and trade frauds in border areas and among ethnic groups and mountainous residents.
Inspections and patrols along border areas and at border gates, seaports, airports, and routes must be strengthened, the Deputy Prime Minister requested.
Meanwhile, market inspections, particularly at wholesale markets and commercial centers on e-commerce platforms and social network pages will be enhanced to avoid tax losses.
The General Department of Viet Nam Customs reported it detected 12,949 cases of smuggling, trade fraud and illegal transportation of goods in the first nine months of this year, with an estimated value of seized goods VND23.7 trillion (US$ 955.8 million). The total value of the confiscated goods is estimated at VND23.7 trillion (nearly US$956 million)./.
