The Vietnamese Party and State have launched a maritime economy development program, which emphasizes ensuring the national security and defense, said the State President, adding that the nation has realized policies to make Cam Ranh International Port become a leading maritime and supply service area.
The port will serve the national development in the context that the country is undertaking intensive international integration as well as the open, multilateral and diversified diplomacy, affirmed Mr. Sang.
He urged the Saigon Newport Corporation to step up the implementation of the second phase of the project, ensuring its progress and quality.
Cam Ranh International Port is expected to become the biggest deepwater port in Viet Nam in terms of wharf length, which could handle 18 ships at one time and accommodate ships of up to 110,000 DWT.
It is capable of receiving 185 ships each year, and is designed to protect ships against 8-level wind and storms.
The port will serve both civilian and military vessels.
