Businesses resume operation in post-pandemic era

Specifically, 48,126 firms came back to the market in the January-August period, equivalent to 48.3 percent of that in the same period last year.  

Enterprises resumed operation in all 17 economic sectors, including those seriously affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in such areas of service, electricity and water production, education and training, real estate, retail and whole sales, accommodation and food services. 

In the reviewed period, 11,918 firms were established with a total registered capital of VND 130 trillion, up 106.9 percent in number and 91.6 percent in value in comparison with the same period last year. 

The Southeast and the Mekong Delta regions which were heavily hit by the pandemic in 2021 experienced the highest number of newly established enterprises with 5,028 firms (up 397.3 percent) and 870 enterprises (up 300.9 percent). 

Up to 696,197 laborers joined the market, representing a year-on-year increase of 16.2 percent in the first eight months. 

Meanwhile, 104,317 firms withdrew from the market, up 22 percent against the same period in 2021. 

Only 59,609 enterprises applied for temporary business suspension, accounting for 57.1 percent of total number of those withdrawing from the market in the January-August period./.
