The delegation is currently in Việt Nam for an upcoming seminar themed “Việt Nam-US trade ties after BTA: Looking back the past – towards the future” which is scheduled for December 9 in Hà Nội. The event will be held to mark the 10th anniversary of the signing of BTA between Việt Nam and the US.
Prime Minister Dũng said he expected that the seminar would figure out practical lessons for Việt Nam during its negotiation process for the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).
Mr. Dũng also hoped that both Việt Nam and the US would make full use of BTA and sign TPP soon in order to lift the bilateral ties to a new height for the sake of peace, cooperation and prosperity.
Việt Nam will work to create a favorable investment environment for foreign players, including those from the US, to do long-term business here while strictly complying with its international commitments.
For his part, Ambassador David Shear assessed that the BTA has provided a solid foundation for tremendous development in the bilateral trade linkages and the signing of TPP between the two sides in the future.
Two-way trade turnover between the two countries is expected to beat US $20 billion in 2011./.
