This trend is evidenced by growing number of foreign-invested projects featuring low-carbon emissions which is in line with the Government's target to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

Top of this trend is Denmark-based LEGO's first carbon-neutral factory in the world. The factory with total investment capital of more than one billion dollar is expected to come into operation in 2024.

The above factory is followed by Pandora's decision to invest US$100 in building a carbon neutral facility for jewellery production in Binh Duong – one of Viet Nam's major industrial hubs.

And most recently, South Korea's SEP Group showed its interest in developing a US$200 million carbon neutral industrial complex in the southern locality.

Once completed, the industrial complex will welcome approximately 20 member companies of SEP to invest in carbon-neutral solutions in Viet Nam, according to Chairman of SEP group Dong Hoon Huyn.

Nguyen Van Hung, Chairman of Becamex IDC Corporation said his company and Singapore-based ty Sembcorp Development LTD have signed an agreement under which both side will develop five green- and smart- oriented industrial parks capitalized at around one billion dollar.

Vo Van Minh, Chairman of the Binh Duong provincial People's Committee said the locality is placing great emphasis on the development of green and high value-added industries in association with the development of digital economy and digital transformation.

Binh Duong's green development strategy will be closely linked with the National Strategy for Green Growth in the 2021-2030 period, vision to 2050 and the National Action Plan for Green Growth for the 2021-2030 period, Vo emphasized.

Specifically, the locality's green development strategy will focus on cutting greenhouse gas emissions, promote the greening of its economy, and step up sustainable consumption, he added./.
