More than 60,000 people evacuated due to incoming typhoon Fengshen

VGP – Local authorities have evacuated more than 60,000 people as incoming typhoon Fengshen is approaching central Viet Nam.

Central localities from Hue City to Da Nang City and Quang Ngai province have issued sea ban to ensure safety for fishermen.

The national flag carrier Viet Nam Airlines has announced cancellation of several flights between Ha Noi and Hue, between Ha Noi and Da Nang, between Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang, and between Da Nang and Cam Ranh on October 22.

Typhoon Fengshen, the 12th storm to hit Viet Nam this year, is expected to reach central coast on Wednesday afternoon and then weaken into a low pressure, according to the National Center for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting.

Fengshen is forecast to bring heavy rainfall of 500-700mm in Quang Tri province and Da Nang City, about 200-400mm in Quang Ngai province.

The National Center for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting warned of flash floods and landslides in Quang Tri, Hue, Da Nang and Quang Ngai.
