ASEAN flag-hoisting ceremony marks bloc's 56th founding anniversary
VGP - An ASEAN flag-hoisting ceremony took place at the headquarters of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday morning to mark the Association's 56th founding anniversary (August 8).
At 7.30 am, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son chairs the ceremony, with the participation of Ambassadors from ASEAN Members States, leaders from ministries, agencies and the Ha Noi municipal People’s Committee

The ASEAN flag is a symbol of the association's solidarity, friendship and cooperation and the aspiration for peace, stability and prosperity of all member countries under the common roof of the ASEAN Community
The ASEAN flag-raising ceremony is held to honor the common values and commitments of ASEAN to their people
ASEAN holds an important position in Viet Nam's foreign policy and international integration. Joining ASEAN in 1995 is a strategic decision of the Party and State of Viet Nam, contributing to creating a new situation of international integration and development of the country, consolidating a peaceful and stable environment and taking advantage of external resources for the national development as well as enhancing the prestige and status of the country
