Agro-forestry-aquatic product exports up 19% in 11 months

VGP - Agro-forestry-aquatic product exports raked in US$57.74 billion over the last 11 months of 2024, up 19 percent from the same period last year, reported the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).

Viet Nam recorded a trade surplus of US$16.46 billion in the agro-forestry-fishery sector during the period, up 52.8 percent year-on-year, statistics show.

In November alone, the export value of these products stood at US$5.3 billion USD, a year-on-year rise of 13.9 percent.

Between January and November, agricultural products brought home US$29.78 billion, forestry products US$15.59 billion, aquatic products US$9.2 billion, and livestock products US$475.5 million, up 23.2 percent, 19.6 percent, 11.8 percent, and 4.4 percent, respectively.

Commodities with high export values include rice with US$5.31 billion, up 22.4 percent; coffee US$4.84 billion, up 32.8 percent; tea US$2.95 billion, up 17.1 percent; cashew US$4.01 billion, up 21.4 percent and peppercorn US$1.22 billion, up 46.5 percent.

The U.S., China, and Japan remained the largest importers of Vietnamese agro-forestry-aquatic products, respectively up 24.6 percent, 11 percent, and 5 percent against the same period last year.

Meanwhile, the Southeast Asian nation spent US$40.28 billion on importing farm produce over the last 11 months of 2024, a year-on-year increase of 9.1 percent.

Of the figure, the import value of agricultural products, forestry products and aquatic products hit US$25.05 billion, US$2.54 billion and US$2.32 billion, respectively./.
