Adidas CEO: Viet Nam is a leading production base for European investors

VGP – Adidas CEO Kasper Rorsted said Viet Nam is a leading manufacturing base for investors from Germany and the European Union.

Rorsted made the above statement during his phone conversation with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Tuesday.

The CEO thanked Prime Minister Pham and Vietnamese Government agencies for having creating favorable conditions for enterprises, including Adidas.

He particularly appreciated Viet Nam's support for Adidas to successfully cope with the COVID-19 pandemic and resume production in the Southeast Asian country.

Rorsted was impressed with Viet Nam's success in rolling out COVID-19 vaccines to its people, which helps guarantee safety for business and production activities and pays the way for the country to reopen the economy.

Adidas highly valued the Vietnamese Government's commitments on sustainable and green growth as well as net-zero emissions, said the CEO./.

Prime Minister Pham congratulated Adidas on its good performance in 2021 despite challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Adidas' sustained operations in Viet Nam indicate its resolve, efforts and effectiveness of close and fruitful cooperation between Vietnamese Government agencies/localities and foreign investors in the spirit of harmonizing interests and sharing risks.

Pham expressed his belief that Adidas will gain greater successes and continue expanding its production in Viet Nam, including creating conditions for Vietnamese firms to further engage in its global supply chain.

He asked Adidas to further uphold its social responsibility and ensure welfare and good working conditions for local workers; continue to play a role in fostering economic, trade and investment cooperation with Germany and the European Union.
