Domestic and international scholars will have chances to share historical documents, discuss findings in social science and humanities, evaluate scientific and technological achievements, and propose specific solutions to prevent economic crisis, backwardness, resource exhaustion and environmental destruction.
The conference’s results are expected to serve the strategy on turning Viet Nam into a modern industrial country by 2020.
Attending the opening session, PM Nguyen Tan Dung said that the acceleration of international integration in terms of science and technology in general and social sciences and humanities in particular is crucial to Viet Nam’s international integration strategy.
The success of the conference will assert the role of social sciences and humanities as well as their benefits to the country’s socio-economic development strategy, the PM added.
He also expected that international scientists will cooperate with Vietnamese partners to build and develop Viet Nam’s science sustainably for a peaceful, cooperative and developing world.
PM Dung hoped that Viet Nam will continue to receive assistance from other nations and international scholars.
