The event also shows the Party and State’s attentions to women.
In recent years, the State has spent more than VND 3,400 billion helping more than 5.6 million women overcome difficulties and escape from poverty.
By the end of 2011, the Vietnam Women’s Union provided vocational training for more than 1.1 million members and created jobs for more than 800,000 women.
At the congress, women delegates will hear reports on the results of implementation of the resolution adopted at the 10th National Women’s Congress and women’s contributions in the 2007-2012 period in the fields of economics, politics, education, scientific research, health care, culture and sports.
They will also hear reports on the Việt Nam Women’s Union’s activities in the 2007-2012 period as well as its orientations and tasks for the phase from 2012-2017.
The draft political report of the 11th congress highlighted the need to encourage women to become involved in the process of socio-economic development and national defense and improve women’s material and spiritual life.
The congress has set a target of enhancing women’s patriotism, knowledge, professional skills, dynamism and creativity, and building a strong women’s union, which is responsible for promoting women’s activities and gender equality.
Vietnamese women have contributed greatly to the national development and continued to bring into full play their role in industrializing, modernizing and protecting the nation, stated Party General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng at the meeting.
