The tourism industry broke two records, including the number of foreign visitors in a year (10 million) and the year-on-year increase (over 2 million against 2015).

Besides, the tourism sector handled 62 million domestic guests.

Deputy Minister Tuan attributed the impressive outcomes to the organizations of important events, including the national conference on tourism development in Hoi An and extension of a visa waiver program for citizens of five European countries.

Next year, the tourism industry set to welcome 11.5 million international guests; serve 66 million domestic visitors; and earn VND 460 trillion in revenue. By 2020, tourism will become a spearhead industry.

The General Department of Tourism will work with the Kien Giang provincial People’s Committee to welcome the ten-millionth international guest to Viet Nam./.
