Sixteen new COVID-19 cases bring national tally to 2,448

VGP – Viet Nam confirmed 16 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, raising the national patient tally to 2,448.

The latest patients include 12 community infection cases in Hai Duong and four imported cases in Tay Ninh (three) and Dong Thap (one), according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

Of the national patient tally, 1,542 are local infections, of whom 849 have been recorded in 13 cities and provinces since January 27.

Hai Duong is currently the biggest COVID-19 hotspot in the nation, with 665 cases, followed by Quang Ninh (61), Ho Chi Minh City (36), Ha Noi (35), Gia Lai (27), Binh Duong (six), Bac Ninh (five), Hai Phong (four), Dien Bien (three), Hoa Binh (two), Hung Yen (two), Ha Giang (one).

The same day, 32 patients were declared free of the virus, taking the total recoveries to 1,876.

The nation is placing 63,054 people under medical surveillance and quarantine nationwide, including 555 at hospitals, 12,218 at concentrated sites, and 50,218 at places of residence.
