At 10 AM (local time), President Nambaryn Enkhbayar hosted the solemn reception to welcome his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyễn Minh Triết in Ulan Bator.
The two leaders held talks on finding out measures to promote the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two countries, especially in economics, trade and investment.

The two Presidents confirmed to place importance on the Việt Nam-Mongolia relationship, expressing their desire to further expand cooperation in various fields, including science, education, health; maintain the exchange of delegations and meetings at all echelons; and promote people-to-people exchanges in order to deepen mutual understanding and bring the bilateral cooperation to a new height.

On the occasion, President Triết informed the Vietnamese Government’s decision to present Mongolia 1,000 tons of rice and some ambulances worth of US $300,000.
In the afternoon of the same day, President Triết met Chairperson of the State Great Khural (National Assembly) Damdiny Demberel and received First Deputy PM Norovyn Altanhuyag.
The Vietnamese leaders hoped that the Mongolian legislature and Government would proactively advocate and promote the bilateral cooperation between the two countries, so as to raise the two-way trade turnover to US $10 million by 2010.
Leaders of the Mongolian legislative and executive bodies pledged to put into reality agreements gained by senior leaders of the two countries, giving favorable conditions to Vietnamese enterprises and citizens to reside and do investment and business in Mongolia.
The leaders also discussed some potential fields of cooperation, such as Việt Nam’s export of rice and consumer goods to Mongolia, mining, tourism, and education.
Also in the afternoon, President Triết, his spouse and entourage visited the High School No. 14 named after President Hồ Chí Minh.
Talking to teachers and students, President Triết stressed, “I’m glad to know that, in Mongolia, thousands kilometers far away from Việt Nam, there exists a high school named after President Hồ Chí Minh. I would like to thank you, teachers and students, who have made great efforts to build the school one of the best ones in Mongolia”.
President Triết dontated the school 20 computers, ten printers and US $50,000.
