This is the first time Viet Nam becomes a member of the POC which is the technical and operational mind of the Universal Postal Union (UPU).

In 2016, Viet Nam was re-elected as member of UPU’s Council of Administration for the term 2017-2020.

The Congress is the supreme authority of the UPU and meets every four years. Plenipotentiaries from the UPU's 192 member countries gather to shape the future of the postal sector.

At this year’s Congress, the member country elected Japanese candidate Masahiko Metoki as Director General of the International Bureau of the UPU.

The Congress also adopted a new four-year strategy, decided on a new membership fee system and defined measures for the long-term restructuring of the pension fund.
