Health ministry confirms 5,376 new COVID-19 cases

VGP – The Ministry of Health confirmed 5,376 new COVID-19 cases over the last 24 hours, raising the national patient tally to 808,578.

The latest patients consist of 9 imported cases and 5,367 domestic infections in 39 cities and provinces, namely Ho Chi Minh City (2,461), Binh Duong (1,283), Dong Nai (824), An Giang (147), Long An (85), Kien Giang (75), Binh Thuan (73), Tay Ninh (54), Khanh Hoa (50), Ha Nam (39), Dong Thap (35), Can Tho (33), Ca Mau (24), Hau Giang (20), Quang Binh (19), Dak Lak (17), Quang Tri (15), Tien Giang (13), Ba Ria-Vung Tau (13), Ninh Thuan (12), Binh Phuoc (12), Nghe An (11), Binh Dinh (8 ), Dak Nong (6), Phu Yen (5), Ben Tre (5), Vinh Long (4), Bac Lieu (4), Ha Noi (4), Qang Ngai (3), Ha Tinh (3), Lam Dong (2), Tra Vinh (2), Bac Giang (1), Gia Lai (1), Kon Tum (1), Da Nang (1), Thua Thien-Hue (1), and Phu Tho (1).

The national caseload includes 803,993 locally transmitted cases recorded in 62 cities and provinces since the fourth COVID-19 wave began.

Twelve of the above localities have gone 14 days without a single new infection: Bac Kan, Tuyen Quang, Lai Chau, Hoa Binh, Yen Bai, Ha Giang, Thai Nguyen, Dien Bien, Hai Phong, Thai Binh, Lang Son, and Lao Cai.

The same day, the ministry reported 28,859 new recoveries, bringing the total number of recovered cases to 693,797, accounting for more than 85% of the national COVID-19 tally.

It also announced further 114 fatalities, taking the death toll to 19,715, representing 2.5 percent of the national caseload.

The nation has administered 44,637,911 COVID-19 vaccine doses, with 10,482,392 people having been fully vaccinated./.
