Health ministry confirms 11,521 new COVID-19 cases

VGP – The Ministry of Health confirmed 11,521 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, raising the national patient tally to 667,650.

The latest patients include 15 imported cases and 11,506 domestic infections in Ho Chi Minh City (5,972), Binh Duong (4,013), Dong Nai (345), Long An (273), Kien Giang (180), Tien Giang (118), Tay Ninh (114), An Giang (106), Quang Ngai (52), Can Tho (50), Quang Binh (37), Dong Thap (35), Khanh Hoa (35), Binh Phuoc (21), Binh Thuan (18), Ha Noi (15), Bac Lieu (14), Ninh Thuan (13), Qang Tri (12), Ba Ria-Vung Tau (12), Hau Giang (11), Phu Yen (10), Binh Dinh (9), Nghe An (9), Da Nang (8 ), Soc Trang (6), Lam Dong (3), Vinh Long (3), Thua Thien-Hue (3), Thanh Hoa (3), Ca Mau (3), Ben Tre (1), Quang Nam (1), and Gia Lai (1). Of the domestic cases, 6,656 were detected in the community.

The national caseload includes 663,232 locally transmitted cases recorded in 62 cities and provinces since April 27 when the fourth COVID-19 wave tied to Delta variant began in Viet Nam.

The same day, the ministry reported 9,914 new recoveries, taking the total number of recovered cases to 433,465.

Among the current positive cases, 5,505 are in critical conditions.

The ministry also announced further 212 fatalities, bringing the nation’s death toll to 16,637, representing 2.5 percent of the national tally.

To date, Viet Nam has administered 33,006,632 COVID-19 vaccine doses, with 6,184,726 having been fully vaccinated./.
